Arabian Center honoured with Community Support Award

The Tree of Life initiative was designed to improve the lives of the under-privileged communities. The essence of the campaign was to light a Lantern of Hope for those in need whilst donating to noble charity causes.

By winning the regional title, Arabian Center, one of two malls operated by Lals Group, is now eligible to compete as one of 13 regional finalists for the coveted ‘Albert Sussman International Community Support Award’- the highest accolade given by ICSC Foundation.  The international event will be hosted in Las Vegas next year.

In recognition of its efforts towards contribution to the community, Arabian Center was honoured with the Community Support Award for its Tree of Life initiative by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) at the recent RECon MENA recognition evening– one of the region’s leading retail industry events. Hosted at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on November 1st, Arabian Center is the sole regional winner in MENA.

The Tree of Life campaign also won a Silver Award in the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres (MECSC) Community Social Responsibility category. These awards have further cemented the mall’s recognised leading position within the regional shopping center industry.

Commenting on the recognition, Mr. Tim Jones, COO of Arabian Center and Lamcy Plaza, said: “It is an honour to be the recipient of this prestigious award. At Arabian Center, social responsibility is core to our operations, and we believe that in addition to delivering a high-quality customer-experience for our visitors, we must also commit to improve the life of the under-privileged communities surrounding us. We dedicate this award to our customers and to our team who continue to champion our CSR agenda.

The mall has always played an active role in promoting its community initiatives through various drives and campaigns. Renowned within the retail industry as a socially responsible leader, Arabian Center’s Tree of Life campaign gained genuine engagement from mall visitors and Ministry officials, who praised the campaign as something that truly inspired care in the community.

Jointly organised by the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres (MECSC) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), RECon Middle East & North Africa 2016, brought together several shopping centre industry professionals, retailers, management and consulting companies, architects, design companies, entertainment and leisure companies, as well as product and service providers to the industry.

A total of 118 entries, comprising major public and private entities and small and medium enterprises from the Middle East and North Africa region joined this year’s competition. The nominees competed in 22 categories and were composed of leading players from the retail sector.
